This center was established in 2011 with the aim of developing the research, providing health care solutions, formulating effective strategies for controlling, reducing and preventing brucellosis in humans in Hamadan province. Brucellosis is a common bacterial disease between humans and animals that is transmitted through direct or indirect human contact with contaminated animals or contaminated dairy products. Clinical manifestations in brucellosis range from asymptomatic infection to acute, subacute and severe forms. It has many different types, and at least four of them are known to occur in humans. 

Brucellosis disease in Iran is endemic and the incidence of disease in some provinces of the country such as Lorestan, Kermanshah and Hamedan has been reported.

The main purpose of establishing this center is elaboration of executive guidelines for control and reduction of brucellosis in the human population in Hamedan province.
